Yonder shafts of light
set lower now in the sky
with the onset of the night,
I sense Autumn's in the eye.
Nearer to the first
is when I prepare to see
the last of summer's greening burst
swaying from each golden tree.

Hi... first time I visit your site... I loved the photos... noticed that they had an aol icon in one corner, how did you do this? I saw you like forensic pathology/psychology... I do too but I know nothing about it, apart from that I know I do for my interests in crimes... will be back to read more of your thoughts

Very nice poem luddie, I can envision the shaft of light shining on the trees starting to turn them into a picture of beauty with the oranges, golds and flaming reds and u start to see god painting another beautiful picture as fall comes to us. We know that as fall fades again he will show us another spectacular facet of nature and his masterpiece as blankets of snow fall and the trees glitter with newly fallen snow as morning alights. Always with your poems I can see a picture in them and to me that is purely brilliant I love your poems.

Beautiful Poem.... living in Los Angeles, we don't get the beautiful fall colors, so I can't quite relate, but I can imagine the beauty I've seen only in the movies. It'll stay summer here until mid to late October when it starts to get cooler... but our autumn is nothing like yours.
