More Death

Unlike a person in this country, Saddam must now be hanged within 30 days.  His right to appeal exists, but will no doubt be ignored.  Now that he's been convicted of war crimes in the death in 1982 of over 100 people, the one crime he's being condemned for, he will hang.

In the streets, his admirers are shouting they will redeem his death in their own blood.  Suicide killers.  Bush has called this ruling of hanging "an achievement".

Why can't we find a place of TRUE SECURITY where killers are locked away for their natural lives?  Why do we always see death as the solution to killing?

Note:  I just want to be clear, this is about a solution as to an alternative to death as punishment.  Where Saddam is concerned I'd like to rip his skin off, slowly.  Just to be clear.

Is there any place on Earth that we can possibly put the condemned Saddam without his possibility of either escape or a prolonged martyrdom? I doubt it very much.
I am not for the taking of life as a punishment for being so wicked but in his case I think justice has to be seen to be done as well as being done. His henchmen sons did not give up their life so easily nor were they given quarter. Sadly in this case no quarter should be given. The most evil of men do not deserve to live and be treated like civilised people and why should we incarcerate him for the rest of his life?  His life, being so precious to himself and for everyone else in this so called civilised world, except for his victims and their families. I doubt very much Hitler, if captured, would have been shown mercy. It really is a sad world in which we live, where the general conscientious of opinions that hanging is just and should be used on everyone that takes amothers' lives.  It is a sign of revenge on behalf of the victims but who will now avenge his death? Two wrongs methinks, but may be a bigger penalty for innocents in the future.

I am for the death penalty.  I think we hold our prisoners(here in America) far too long, on taxpayers money, in prison cells for up to 20 years.  Ridiculous.  It didn't bother them to kill, maim, beat, mutilate and torture, so what is one injection to just put them to sleep permantly?  I think it's much more humane than a noose around your neck or frying in an electric chair.
No, I would not want to be the one to inject the fatal dose, but I'm still for the death penalty.  I also think that if we were a lot harder on criminals then we are, there would be far less crime.

I'm with Jackie. I think if they started doing to these child killers and baby rapists what they did to their victims, there might be a few less crimes out there. Saddam is no differerent.  His former countrymen need to carry this sentence out in the 30 days as it's mandated. JMO

I know some will feel this will bring more terrorists to the USA's doorstep.  Truthfully, though they do not need Saddam's sentence to hate Americans.  Given the opportunity and the means, they would and will continue to take out others, even their own whom they feel support the USA.  If something happens post-sentence, it would happen anyway in my opinion, just as it has been.

I am definitely for the death penalty.  There is no way we can find a place of "TRUE SECURITY" where we can lock killers away for the rest of their natural lives - we could not begin to afford to feed, clothe them and provide medical and dental care. It is not my choice to use some of my tax dollars for hardened criminals like Suddam.  What he gave out in life, he deserves in death.  Sometimes death is the only answer, and in this particular case, it can't come soon enough.  And I also agree with Bush - THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ACHIEVEMENT!!!!!  May Suddam get all that he deserves.  And I say this with a smile on my face and great sadness for all the people he tortured and killed.  The day they hang him will be a day of celebration for me !

Nothing will be accomplished by his death. How can he feel bad about his crimes if he's dead??! It makes no sense!

All it will serve to do is anger the terrorists who WILL strike back, resulting in the loss of innocent lives.

Sorry about my negativity, but I feel strongly that this is WRONG for so many reasons.

Lock him up, throw away the key, have done!!

Hope you're ok hun...I'll email you later,

I agree with Jackie. We keep the prisoners too long here.  Where I live, in CA, they have started moving prisoners to other parts of the country because there is no room for them here anymore.  One attorney, referring to the Manson clan (remember them? 1960's?) said that all they did was literally UPGRADE their lifestyle by getting caught. The ladies live in cottages with flowers and privacy. Medical paid..food paid. They've never had to worry a bit about anything.  And WE pay for it.  And yet, we've got decent people (some we even KNOW) who can't afford to feed their kids.  It's nuts!

I think if they are given the death penalty and it was carried out, the criminals would literally think twice.  But, for now, they aren't even afraid of jail.  Ok...enough of that.
Have a good night......Pam

Better Idea. stitch him alive in the body of a pig, then bury it. As he slowly died he would know that his idea of heaven would forever be denied to him.  Jim, an old man now but a former fighter against men like this one.     Jim.
