More Tales From "Boring But True"

I have an entry dated May 16, 2006, called "BORING BUT TRUE" which I've added to now and again.  I think the whole post is worth repeating; besides I need to practice my typing.

                                     BORING BUT TRUE

All apes are left-handed.

A tiger has striped skin as well as fur.

We are born with more bones than we have now.

More people went bowling than voted in the last election.

The Universe has no center, no edges.

Humans are the only mammal born "unfinished."

Gays are allowed to adopt children, but not marry. (huh?)

There's a hockey fan (pay attention Donna) whose name is Stanley F. Cup.  Really!

America has the most prisons on earth.

In China there are MORE PANDA than DOLPHINS.  The Yangtse and Yellow Rivers are so polluted you are susceptible to skin cancer just by touching it.

Smoking will soon be outlawed in cars.

Walking backward is healthier as exercise than forward.  Doesn't seem that healthy all-around though ...

California pols are lobbying for a bill that will make spanking or paddling a child under 4 a misdemeanor.

The male seahorse becomes impregnanted and gives birth to the kiddies.  Within hours, the females detect the scent and immediately re-impregnant the male.  Poor guy.

An unusual clam-like sea creature kills its prey by spewing out tiny replicas of itself which, when swallowed by the fish who thinks it's food, clamp themselves to the inner muscles and drain the fish of blood.  Holey moley.

People will always tend to judge you based on the worst day of your life.

this whole entry is interesting..but the one that's more thought provoking was this one:
>"People will always tend to judge you based on the worst day of your life."<

I'm gonna have to look back..it got me to start thinking about that.

Loved this! I don't know how I missed it the first time around. I'm hoping, my friend, to be able to catch up on journals soon. Started back yesterday but am so far behind I doubt I'll ever catch up. I may have to delete and simply start over again.

Nice one! Never knew a few of them but the gay situation has changed as far as UK is concerned. They can get married by a civil service having the same status as the normal married couples. A few made me laugh especially you needing typing practice!

I heard all kitty cats have striped skin as well.  Now I find it interesting that all apes are left-handed.  Alot of these make me say, "Why? why?"  LOL  I think we have more prisons than anyone else because of the drug situations in our country... we lock up the drug users, the addicted little guy and give them hard time like the drug sellers.  Should we de-criminalize drugs?  I don't know?  Makes me wonder.  But I do think we should make rehab more of an option.  Interesting stuff!  Love, your sis xox

Sis 2 Sis: Yes, locking up drug addicts, what an effective way to help them.  After being jailed he'll never use drugs again, noooo.  How short-sighted!  We have many well run multi-phasic therapeutic clinics where the treatment modalities are tailored toward helping an addict live with his disease, not punishing him for it.  You're right, that's part of why our prisons are overflowing - too many who don't belong there not to mention would benefit more by another approach.  Taking/ingesting drugs of any kind is not illegal - selling them is.  The law should start enforcing the distinction (once they learn it, eh?).
