"The Gardener"

Have you one dear friend, who can soothe your every pain?

A friend who goes beyond a lover standing in the rain;

In ways so unexpected, I found a friend like this,

and o'er the years she's been there like an angel's silent kiss.

She turns over the earth!  How she causes it to sing!

She understand the seasons and the changes that they bring;

Is there a gift as great as bringing one small seed to bloom?

be it in the grandest garden, or the window of a room.

To me she is The Gardener, traveling far and wide

reaching those who call for her, she rushes to their side;

N'er could I imagine my life without her in it -

if they gave awards for having heart, my Gardener, she would win it.

I have two.  No, three.  One is my Sissy.  The other two, upon reading this, will know who they are.

I am very fortunate to say I have a few 'gardeners' like this. And I couldn't have gone through life without them.
Thank you for sharing your lovely poem with us.  It has made me reflect and be thankful for those who help to cultivate and help my life to grow too.
Take care.

Since this entry yesterday, I have read this over and over and tried to contemplate what comment I would make.  This poem truly touches upon special friendships one that can transcend time and be forever.  Whether you ever meet that person or not does not really matter because you have a connection that comes from the soul and the heart.  One seems to know when the other is in need and just quietly appears.  A Gardener can nurture and sow seeds of friendship and when someone in her garden is not growing, she can tend to it and make it come back to health.  Your Gardener you mention in your poem, in turn, I am sure, received from you Luddie the same kind of nurturing and caring that goes into making a special friend.  The first time I read this and today as I read it, this brings tears to my eyes of joy to think that you think so very highly of someone that you would honour them with a poem.  Last night in the Journal chat you mentioned who your Gardener was.  So my dear friend  from my heart, your friendship has meant so very much to me you have enriched life beyond imagination.  Your knowledge of many things have broadened my horizons and my knowledge but the hand you extend me across the miles is what makes the Gardener who she is.  You see a Gardener can make a flower grow and blossom but in turn, that flower makes the Gardener grow within her soul and heart to know there are flowers in her garden that are so special and rare as the friend that you have become to me, Luddie.  So from my heart my friend, thank you so very much for this poem I am so very proud and honoured to be your Gardener.

Cathy, such a nice tribute to a friend.  The Gardener is as happy to have you as a friend I'm sure.  :)

After last night's Journal Chat, I can answer the question "who is Cathy's gardener" :-). But we all need someone like that.

This poem so touched my heart, reminded me of how blessed I am. I have one in my life like this, but to me, nobody is as awesome, as precious a Gardener as Jesus, who IS my dearest Friend. Your entries never fail to touch me, to give me food for thought. They give me other ways of viewing things. Thank you for taking time to share YOU with all of us. Merry Christmas.

This entry is special, Cathy.
I am glad you have such a person in your life that picks you up when you are down, holds you when you are lonely or scared and whos depth in your heart goes beyond the depth one feels for a lover.  If I were you, I would hang onto this lady - "A Gardner" is rare and most impossible to find on this Earth plane.  I had someone like this once - but I am not sure where she has gone.  Maybe into the Universe to find her bliss?  I pray she comes back into my life someday soon as my garden is not the same with out her in it.
