"Her Lover's Dead"

TWO LOVERS.  A man and a woman.

He loves her but it's not enough, he is too sad.

He takes a gun and shoots himself as she lies sleeping.

Leaves her to deal with feelings of guilt and emptiness.

She is crushed - is it my fault?  What made him so sad?

Wasn't I enough for him?

"Gonna put my tender

heart in a blender..."

Now she's broken,

he can't mend her.

Comes too soon

and gone too fast ...

sounds like tomorrow

cannot last.

Look to shadows

in the corner,

what's that shape?

another mourner.

At the grave

a plea to save

what's come undone

with one small gun.

He took a chance

and took a shot

and now she's lost

what he forgot.

Her love, his life,

his hand did take

is it her fault?

was she awake?

Why such a sadness

in his heart?

And now she cries

she's torn apart.

Comes the grief

in disbelief

that he would leave

with no reprieve

for her.....

I found this poem very thought provoking, it opens up a lot of different things to me, not sure if you are talking of a relationship, a friendship or a man and a woman.

It's about a man and woman, he shoots himself while she's sleeping, leaves her to deal with feelings of guilt.  Something different.  Thanks ((#))

What can I say Cathy, you've done it again!  I hope it is just a wonderful beautiful tragic poem that came to mind, and not inspired by any personal circumstance.  Hugs

Nope Rosemary, honest it just wrote itself as I tapped it out.  Except for the first line (in quotes) that's from a song.  Don't know where this came from but not from a personal thing thank God.  Strange feelings though...

Powerful stuff Ms  R.

Like Rosemary I wouldn't like to think it was as a result of personal circumstances.

Thank God the bloke shot himself as I though my goose was well and trully cooked and you were popping me or yourself off!

You should become a RAP star with that verse! Surprising as usual Ms R Love ED
