HOME OF THE BRAVE - DEC 7, 1941

The world still has problems dealing with this country. You hear it, I hear it - "America the bully" or "The world's cop" or "America takes too much" and I know we're a big nation, with big egos.

But when I see a kid 30 years my junior run into a busy street to help a lady who fell off her cane, and he runs out there because he wears a uniform few others will, and that lady is me and I'm
scared to death I'll get run over - and that kid helps me stay calm as he carried me out of rush-hour traffic....well - whatever else we may be, whatever the world may think of this country....

This is STILL the HOME OF THE BRAVE.

Hi Cathy thanks for your comment I agree with you in the main, however I did also say that, it is quite often learned behavoiur, and actually should have mentioned that some parents were also guilty of this, such a big subject hard to cover everything.

I am so glad that you were helped. Yes, there are still many good people in the world. I agree with Yasmin that upbringing has a lot to do with it. If children are raised to respect others and help others, then they will.

I agree that it is how a child has been brought up that turns them into the adult they become.
Hence for those less fortunate it should be part of the curriculum in schools where they get involved in helping others less fortunate than themselves.
Just a thought..
Thank God that you were helped by this kind young man.
You do right to sing your country's praises!
Well done you!
Take care of YOU!..

There are good people out there. I think our goverment has a tendency to jump in were they don't belong but there are a lot of fantastic individuals out there that fight for us and our freedom. *M*

I've long felt that despite what our government chooses to do or not to do, and despite a few incidents to the contrary that by and large our service men and women are the best ambassadors of good will that our nation produces.

I'm glad there was one nearby when you needed them.

Not all young people are rogues, and not all service personnel are ashamed to wear their uniform in public. Glad someone came to your aid. Thanks for reminding me of Pearl Harbor.
