A Day Late, A Meteor Shower Short

Here it is mid-August, time for the great Perseid meteor shower, and I missed posting for its 8/11-12 peak-time. Sorry am I!! If you've seen the shower each year (or any year) you know how incredible it can be. The moon glared down from constellation Aries right next to the shower's radiant in Perseus, so it was a rather disappointing show. (The radiant is that red dot in the center.) If you're looking Northeast near midnight you can still catch them, out in open unlighted spaces. Perseids can appear in any part of the sky, but their tails always point back to the radiant.
Actual photos of Perseids trailing through the night sky.

hey lady - wow, the magic of the universe!!! you know, since i'm a leo [8/11], i've always liked to think of the perseids as my own personal little magic show from the universe :)

but not matter, a gift for us all from the gods! can't get any better than that!

With my night nearly over, would like to wish you a bright one and a nice start into the new week as well.

Fabulous images of the sky. How much we miss if we are not sky watchers at night.
Yesterday, August 15, I paid my respects to lunar Diana - Roman equivalent to Greek Artemis - and the cycle of fertility and ripening.

It is beautiful but we do not seem to see it here. The heavens are so wonderful.

GYPSYWOMAN: Don't sell your OWN meteor shower short! The Leonids are due in November and by far the most astounding spectacle for cosmos-watchers. This time I'll remember to post BEFORE they appear lol. CELESTE: The Goddess of the hunt, the maiden of Delos, the protector of nature - one of my favorites. I always enjoyed how she could face down the others gods using only her undiluted womanhood.

The Dinosaurs, lucky bastards, witnessed the most spectacular celestial show in Earth's history which unfortunately altered the course of Evolution by kick-starting a massive Extinction Level Event which "miraculously" gave rise to the mammals.

So in honour of Woodstock let us sing
We are stardust,
we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Hi Cathy,

Thank you for stopping by and commenting on my blog.

You are right, at least the guy was being honest about his looks.

I hope I didn't offend you with the post. I got that picture off a personals site, and only critique personals ads that I think are sooooo out there.

I would not ever critique the picture of a blogger, so I wouldn't "stop by your window." Besides, I think you are pretty.
