Leave Paris Alone

Imagine from your very first cry into the world, from your home on Mt. Olympus, you were treated as the baby goddess you were.  Imagine never having a need for one single thing in life.  Pampered and adored, you are completely unaware of the realities of everyday life, the untold vagaries of people trying to get through just one more day.  Imagine if your main function was shopping, and of course you do it well.  You surround yourself with other baby gods and goddesses, because they understand you.

I keep hearing how Paris Hilton "needs to learn a lesson."  Exactly what does she need to learn, how to be someone she never was?  Okay, she broke a law and of course is expected to pay like all of us do.  But she was used as a political pawn to show how the law must be equal for all people.  Yet, when given a month in prision she was released within DAYS in perfect accordance with the shark-like lawyers her family hired.  Days.  During her first incarceration she got by just fine because she knew she'd be getting out VERY soon - so she used the time to tell open-mouthed girls that, yes indeed she really did throw out a $5,000. dress because of a catsup stain.  Paris was in the limelight, which warms her.

When she was released to house arrest, THAT was her real punishment.  She wasn't allowed out to shop, which is torture for a goddess.  She developed a skin rash from not being able to wear all the gold, copper, silver, other metals that enter one's pores and certainly hers for many years.  So her skin reacted.  Okay, that's reasonable in her world.  It was far more difficult for her to sit at home without being able to drive to a pal's place or check out the latest diamond bracelet or $200. shoes or ... it's another world.  It's Mt. Olympus.  That's where she's from.

So when the judge sent her BACk to jail, she cried "It's not fair!"  And she was right - it WASN'T fair to HER in her world because she'd already DONE her term of punishment by being locked in her house (however magnificent we may imagine it) but there she was, unable to go out.  Couldn't party.  Couldn't shop.  Couldn't bask in the limelight of the papparazzi who she adores and they adore everything she does but most especially if it's a mis-step.  Ordinary folks love to see that.  For shame.

Now she'll be on probation for two years.  I'm sure she'll make the best of it, since she'll be able to pose, shop, party, visit, dress-up, buy that diamond bracelet, all the things a goddess is expected to do, and was raised to expect.

For whatever it's worth, and whatever you think of her, this is a human being who was raised on Mt. Olympus.  She has a different reality than we do.  It doesn't make her wrong.

You know I had a similar thought about Paris too.  I look at my own children and as much as I would love to say they are perfect, they are not.  I wonder how many of us can hold that candle of truth?  Not one.  I did not understand why people went out of their way to be so cruel and mean in comment to this young woman that was obviously raised in a different environment than our own.  Because doesn't society at times beg off on someone's ill behaviors or even worse, crimes because of their environment?  A product of their environment?  I think it was unfair how she was treated.  Not saying she should of not served out a sentence, because I do.  If the officials had just let her serve out her sentence instead of her being jerked around, then she would of been treated like anyone else.  So we blame her parents and high-priced lawyers.  Well I think they all have a bit of of blame on them, including the officials.  As far as her health issue, I am not going to judge what caused it - but I don't doubt she was very stressed for whatever the reason.  My hope for her is that she'll come out of this a bit more wiser and understand there are consequences to actions.  My hope for society is nil because they seem to enjoy making sport of someone that needs help.  I don't get it.  Yes she may be a mess in our minds, but does that give us the right to make fun of this young woman?  Some will say she puts herself out there, so it is deserved.  I'd like to see how long that person would last in a constant microscope of judgment.  I know I would not like it.  Just my humble opinion.

I was surprised when Paris came out of prison.  All the news anchors were saying that she had not changed because she had gotten hair extensions.  They said anybody that would want to help people would not go get their hair cut or fixed after getting out of prison.  I was flabbergasted.  What did one thing have to do with another?  They went on and on that she had not changed.  They also made fun of her for passing out chalupas.  Anyway, I am floored about the hair thing.  What's the big deal???

I was surprised to see this entry about Paris Hilton in your Journal.  For me, you have much more to give to us than blogging about Paris!!  My "fight" would not be in favor of Paris, but totally AGAINST the media!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  They all need to get a life!!  To be quite honest, I really don't feel I need to waste my valuable time on comments about Paris Hilton - she already has enough written about her to sink one very large battleship!! In fact, if you want my honest opinion, I tend to turn away from any more blogs, pictures, and just anything that has to do with her.  I am absolutely overwhelmed with her.  Now I am not saying that this is all her fault, but I do blame the media and US!!  Do you know that when Paris did a live interview the other evening on Larry King Live, his ratings went sky high in comparison to any other night for his show.  Shame on us - it shows how utterly shallow we are and how we urge the media forward to do yet another show, or magazine, or newspaper article or whatever.  Soooooooo = I agree with you to a certain point, Cathy, but I wish she would crawl back home on Mt. Olympus and stay there for awhile to give all of us a much needed rest.  And, of course, THE MEDIA . . . . . . . . well, what can I say??  They are totally helpless!

I think every parent should slap their psycophantic children if they find them idolizing her.

There is just something wrong with the whole deal and I, for one, am glad you took the time to point out the very different life style Paris lives.  Shame on all of 'us' who enjoyed her misery.  I don't enjoy the misery of others ... nor should I.
