"Self-Pity Needs To Vent"

I'd like to have a day of joy

without the debt to pay for it -

                                   A motivation to go on,

without having to pray for it.

Still, I've had my laughing days,

and all of them realistic -

a favorite joy? at stars I'd gaze

each single glow magestic.

I've loved a many, loved them well,

they tried to lift my heart -

Like angels they would round me dwell

                                  And still I'd feel apart,

The joy in life, I tried to find,

but only put on airs,

My father brought me peace of mind -

my mother taught me prayers.

Though some are born to melancholy,

                                 quite at home with grief,

I always felt I'd fall away

                                just like a loosened leaf.

It's not a story sad to tell

for I made a-many glad,

whether music, art, or poetry

I gave the gifts I had.

But this is just a Pity-Poem,

it needs its venting, too -

and though my state of mind will change,

I share it now with you !

This poem absolutely echos my feelings of the last week or so, I totally relate to what you saying.  Just to let you know your entries and your poems help to provide me with knowledge I would never ordnarily gain and your poems always touch me deeply especially the Gardener.  God bless Luddie, I am here for you always.

I suppose we all give in to a pity party from time to time.....some just more often than others.  Once when I was deep in a poor me who no one in this house appreciates funk, I felt the Lord tell me it's that I do it well that they can take me forgranted.  That He sees and knows.  To remember I am actually doing it all for Him.    -  Barbara

Wonderful poem!    I shared your mind in this poem and hope that your spirits lift soon my friend.  I try not to let melancholy enter my life but sometimes it visits and you describe it so well.

Without pain you wouldn't know enough to embrace joy, without sorrow, we wouldn't know the depth of love. For everything there is a balance. Your in my thoughts. (Hugs) Indigo

Cathy~Had to read this one a few times...My Grandma always said I was "melancholy", which I'm sure you can distinguish as well as I can from deep depression. Melancholy I can handle! Very well written! You surely do have your gifts and I'm glad you share one of them here in JLand. I'd love to hear some piano music with it~special order please? ;-) Deb

This is a lovely poem, I can relate to much of it, especially the third verse.  Melancholy is a word I use quite frequently to describe my mood as well.  Very nice.

So typical of the person I have grown to know over the last year or so. Everyone gets melancholic once in a while "so let it pass be on it's way and dont be sad another day". Liked this CR and so true of you. Have a happier day tomorrow. ED
