Thanksgiving still a ???

"So Cath, how was YOUR Thanksgiving?"  asks my Journal.

Staring at my keyboard, I start tapping out "Well, dear Journal, it hasn't happened yet but I'm hoping for the best - optomistic but prepared."

That's right, we haven't celebrated our "Day of Thanks" yet, but have all good intents of doing so today, in a few hours, down the shore in Belmar - at a restaurant.  (For some reason that always sounded so sad to me - yet I'm in good spirits because it seems a good portion of us will make it there).  "Who cares where?" say I !!  Bring on the giblets.

Truth is, in this entangled deeply troubled family, with more troubles on the way, half of us are ill and the other half are becoming symptomatic of weird things.  And we're all dysfunctional PTSD survivors.  Nevertheless, I'm going into the fray with a smile yet knowing I'd need battle armour for some sibs, as they tend to see this day as an excuse to bring up old (very old) slights.   Do hope they serve a ton of turkey, then everyone will be too busy eating to argue.

I'll tell you how the stuffing was.

Be cool, my sincerest friend, just be cool. No need to unsettle the natives on this find day; as remember what it is. Not just a turkey dinner but a thanksgiving for any intention you make it. So make it a good intention.

Make that intention plain from the very start, not starting as a love in and ending in a all in. Let's hope that will knock the stuffing out of the antagonists all sibling families have, and things will go well. My thoughts go with you and remember us lot have to go through with that dinner at Christmas. Where's  they Indians?

Thankfully bird flu will curtail that this year on our side of the pond and I won't be there to see it. Horrah for small mercies. Only my fourth time away from my homeland in all these 21 years lol

Cath just enjoy it for what it is, a dinner and a jab at your siblings. Nothing anyone else hasn't put up with either.... so have a nice relaxing one. ED

Hi Cathy, well by the time you get to read this I hope that your dinner is over an dthat all has gone really well.  If you read it before going out try to keep smiling. It's surprising how astonished people can be when every barb they throw is returned with an "Oh dear"  and a smile.  love Sybil xx

It's amazing how many people have mentioned how disfunctional their families are over the Holidays. I really thought that my family was rare, honestly. Amazingly enough, everyone behaved this year. Besides, a smile disagreement between my older sister and my mom, everything went well. I hope yours is great! -Missy
